The Fintech Transformation Conference

Where: SOM

volunteer opportunities available!

Register: http://som.yale.edu/event/2017/10/the-fintech-transformation-conference

Fintech is dramatically reshaping human economic life.  It is opening access to markets, investment and credit.  It is inventing new ways to solve age-old financial problems. It has reduced fees, disintermediated banks and brought financial services to emerging economies.  How can we best use FinTech for the benefit of society and what unintended consequences should we be concerned with?

Can Fintech make the world a better, safer, more humane place?  How can it improve planning, saving, investment, safety and decision-making?  Can it simplify our lives, improve global living standards and democratize access to capital? Will it change the way we think and behave?  Will it raise the potential for systemic disruption and social divergence?

The Yale ICF conference will convene thought leaders in finance, technology, and academia to explore FinTech’s potential for further reshaping our world.

Workshop with SYPartners: Sketching to Convey Ideas SOM [2nd years only]

When: Friday, October 6th, 10:00am-12:30pm

Where: Evans Hall, 2220

RSVP: Space is limited

SYPartners is a leading design consultancy firm focused on encouraging and developing transformational leadership. They do this by building systems of transformation that have the power to make change at scale. A team from SYP, including designer, strategist, and recent SOM alumnus Garrett Wong, will join us at SOM to teach a particular aspect of their process -- sketching and visualization of ideas.

Sketching is a powerful tool for problem solving, mapping out logic, and sharing complex ideas -- and you don't have to be an artist to do it well. This workshop will teach you useful techniques for sketching that you can start applying immediately to anything from laying out your next to thinking through big picture problems facing your company in the future. So enjoy putting away your laptop for a couple of hours and join us.

The workshop will be followed by an informal discussion with SYPartners to discuss their work and any questions participants might have. This event is reserved for second years only. First years -- there will be more!
